Finishing with a time of 8 hours, 16 minutes and 50 seconds in 2018, Watson was looking to obliterate the his own record, aiming to finish the event under the eight-hour mark.
Watson, 30, did not disappoint, posting an astounding time of 7:57:09, bettering his own personal best at the event by nearly 20 minutes. After the win, Watson said it was a perfect run.
"This year went pretty perfect to be honest," he said.
"I sought of had everything on my side. I didn't go through too many ups and downs like I did last year. We had a bit of a tailwind towards the end and the sand was relatively compact which I was not expecting.
"Once I knew the condition of the sand I knew I'd be a good chance to maybe get under the eight hours and I got there with a couple of minutes to spare," he laughed.
