Decorated all-rounder Sam Miller is back at his home club for the 2019-20 campaign, severely bolstering a Red Caps outfit that will be again under the care of captain Gavin Webb.
Miller, who was a first grade premiership player with Wendouree way back in 2008-09, excelled after leaving the region to play in the ACT and South Australia.
The 31-year-old spent time with the ACT Comets in the Futures League and then managed some Sheffield Shield and one-day games for South Australia.
Miller also represented the Prime Minister's XI in a clash against England in 2011, playing alongside the likes of current Australian captain Tim Paine, Brett Lee and Usman Khawaja.
He won the 2012-13 Bradman Medal - Adelaide grade cricket's highest individual honour - for club Prospect, where he played up to last season.
Webb said Miller would soon be moving back to Ballarat for family reasons and this had led to a return to Wendouree.
He said Miller's recruitment was hugely exciting for the Red Caps.
"He has had a pretty distinguished career in Canberra and Adelaide... playing state cricket speaks for itself," Webb said.
Webb said Miller would likely help out with coaching at both junior and senior level and would offer some valuable experience to the first grade team on game day.
A powerful batsman and medium pace bowler, Miller adds a heap of class to a Wendouree outfit that missed A-grade finals last season.
Medium pace bowler Sam Peeters is another top recruit for Wendouree. Peeters last played for the club in 2016-17.
The new campaign is set to start on Saturday, October 5 with the Red Caps booked to take on Buninyong in round one.
The first three rounds of the season are one-day games before the two-day fixtures kick off on October 26.
