The Ballarat Mechanics’ Institute will play host to a montage of 16 movie trailers, dating from 1930 to 1970.
The 20-minute preview, consisting of both coloured and black and white works, will see popular names such as King Kong, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Superman, Mickey Mouse, Gone with the Wind and Miracle on 34th Street, revisited in their previous glory.

The promotional works were carefully selected as a timeline of classics, designed to take visitors on a “journey back to yesteryear,” said Judy Verlin, Heritage Weekend advisory committee member and City of Ballarat councillor.
“It’s a wonderful time to reflect on our past and a celebration of who we are as Ballarat,” Cr Verlin said.
The fifth year for Heritage Weekend will see the dates coincide with Mother’s Day.
“It’s a great time to enjoy with families; going back to childhood dreams and what’s important to them,” Cr Verlin said.
Complementing the montage, a camera display outlining advancement from the late 1800s to 1970s will be featured at the Ballarat Mechanics’ Institute.
