BALLARAT has gone Nitro Cricus crazy, smashing 10 year records for pre-sales in the first two days of tickets being available for next February's spectacular.
The global sports entertainment leader will make its Ballarat debut at Mars Stadium on February 29 next year and it already promises to be a hit with almost 2000 tickets selling as part of a two-day pre-sale, a record in Australia in Nitro's 10 year history.
Nitro Circus President, Andy Edwards said he had been blown away by the response to date.
"We knew we had a lot of fans in Ballarat, and so always felt really good about bringing our show to this market but no-one foresaw that we would be outselling the likes of Perth, Brisbane and Newcastle on previous tours," Mr Edwards said.
Ballarat was initially poised to host an event in 2012, but a suitable venue was unable to be found. However, the redevelopment of Mars Stadium has enable the event to go ahead.
"We've always wanted to play Ballarat," Mr Edwards said. "We were close once before. But it's official now, and we are beyond stoked to be bringing the biggest and best action sports tour on the planet to Ballarat."
The goal of Nitro Circus is to creates electrifying live events and original content that at once exhilarates, captivates and inspires thrill-seeking fans worldwide.
Co-founded in 2003 Travis Pastrana, Nitro Circus has since travelled across the planet, playing to sold-out stadiums on five continents. The company introduced an innovative breakthrough in 2016 with the debut of Nitro World Games, completely rebooting action sports competition in the process and then raised the bar once again in 2018 with Nitro Rallycross, a rejuvenation of four-wheel motorsports.
Ballarat Regional Tourism spokesperson Iain Gunn said Mars Stadium was a 'wonderful asset' and it was fantastic it would be utilised to bring people to Ballarat.
"Anything that can be done to activate Mars Stadium more regularly than the two or three AFL matches and one or two other sporting events in the pipeline is a good thing," he said
Mayor Samantha McIntosh said the event reinforced Ballarat's standing as a destination for major events in Victoria, with the Nitro Circus bringing benefits for tourism operators across the city. For more go to nitrocircus.com
