He hoped the win would bring him a step closer to Lewis who won the Australian super-welterweight title earlier this year.
"I feel like it is another stepping stone to get where I want and it will be a good test for me to see where I'm at," he said.
"I'm young and hungry and so is he, and when you get two hungry Lions fighting over a bone it's pretty fun."
Nagbe got the nod from the judges after a six-round bout at the Wildfighter promotion in Bairnsdale.
After feeling Kori out in the first round, Nagbe increased the pressure, landing a thunderous right-hand hook midway through the third.
The hit set the stage for a unanimous victory for Nagbe who was at a significant reach disadvantage.
"After round one I had to go to plan-B because I wasn't able to hit him fighting the way I was because he wasn't coming forward to fight," he said.
"He was very good at his jab and keeping his distance, so I had to increase the pressure and throw my combinations in bulk and follow him.
"When I tagged him I felt him wobble, his head was knocked back and he was a little unstable, but I couldn't finish him."
The win launched the Nagbe nine spots up the national rankings. He is is now rated 16th in the country after two professional fights.
The 26-year-old expressed relief to be back in the ring.
"There has been a lot of obstacles for me this year with sickness and controversy," he said.
"It was exciting to be back, it gives me that hunger and freshened me up again."
Nagbe is eyeing off a Victorian title fight in November.
