Matt Short has made a half century in his first appearance for Victoria in this season's Sheffield Shield.
He made 55 runs against Western Australia in Perth.
The Ballarat export 119-minute stay at the crease included seven boundaries.
He went to the crease with Victoria struggling at 4-128 and combined with Will Pucovski for a partnership of 114.
Earlier: SHORT BACK IN VICTORIAN SIDE
After being named as the 12th man for Victoria's first Sheffield Shield match-up against South Australia, Matt Short has come into the side for Friday's test in Perth.
Short was one of two inclusions for the reigning premier's team to play against Western Australia, with the batsman and Peter Siddle replacing Aaron Finch and John Holland.
The Ballarat-native is set to bat in the middle order in Perth.
Coming into the year, Short told The Courier he was simply hoping to get in the loaded Victorian side.
"We've got a pretty good squad at the moment so it's going to be pretty hard to squeeze in," he said.
Elsewhere, Short's brother Sam has appeared briefly for Melbourne United in its two exhibition games against NBA teams the Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings.
United will next face Perth in Melbourne on Sunday afternoon.
