Scoble has agreed to terms with the Saints, and while he is yet to formally sign a contract, will put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the option of a third.
He was locked in as part of an extensive process headed by Carngham-Linton football manager Greg Spratling.
The former Daylesford player, who won two Central Highlands Football League premierships with the Bulldogs, takes up the role formerly held by Matt Beaston.
Beaston departed mid-way through the 2019 season and was replaced on an interim basis by Tom Sarah, who coached out the remainder of the campaign.
Scoble will arrive following a lengthy playing and coaching stint with Trentham and two-year job as head interleague coach of the Maryborough Castlemaine District competition.
"The club is very excited to have Clayton on board as coach," Carngham-Linton president Lenny Venville said.
"Once Clayton was approached and sat down with us he came across very professional and his knowledge of football was outstanding.
"He has a passion to get the best out of our playing group and is excited by the challenge."
Scoble was part of Daylesford's 2007 and 2009 flags and played over 200 CHFL and Ballarat league games with the club of which he is a life member.
He also won a senior premiership with Castlemaine in 2000.
Carngham-Linton won two games last season and eventually finished second last on the ladder.
Since joining the CHFL from the Lexton Plains league in 2011, the Saints are yet to play in a senior finals series.
