The 23-year-old is set to take over from departing coaching pair Garth and Cynna Kydd, who have been at the helm of the Tigers for the past seven seasons.

Speaking to The Courier, Conroy said she is excited to face the new challenge and is looking forward to evaluating what it will take to reach her eighth grand final.

"I'm very excited to do it," she said.

"I'm really looking forward to it, we'll start looking at the team in the next few weeks and see who's going to be staying around and if we need any fresh faces... it's been a while since we had any new faces in our team."

Conroy know's filling the hole Cynna Kydd, a former Australian netballer and two time league best and fairest winner, has left in the side will not be an easy one. The new coach believes it will take a whole team effort to best move on from Kydd's departure.

"It'll be a team responsibility to fill that void. I feel like it's not going to be about one person filling that position, rather us working out how we're going to work as a team and utilise our strengths."

Having never coached before, Conroy relented her biggest obstacle heading into the 2020 season will be making decisions surrounding playing time and playing spots in the team.

The four-time premiership player said because of the family environment within the club, she believes her decisions will be respected and listened too by her teammates.

"That's something that I've asked myself, 'Is it going to be difficult for me to still make those decisions when I've been playing at the club for so long?"

"I feel like the respect we have for one another and the repour we have as a group means that we shouldn't have any problems. We're always willing to take on feedback from each other and that's what successful teams are able to do."

Coming off back-to-back grand final losses, Conroy said her side will be coming into the new season with a lot of hunger and motivation.

"We're extremely hungry after the past two seasons... I know it definitely hit home with me because we are a really competitive team and to go down in back-to-back years was a bit of a kick in the guts but it's just going to help motivate us further."

Springbank finished third on the ladder in 2019, beating the undefeated Lakies to progress to the grand final before losing to Hepburn.
