Managing owner Wylie Dalziel from Ballarat has confirmed a desire to tackle the weight-for-age "championship" after Mr Quickie's luckless 11th in the Caulfield Cup.
Mr Quickie was slow out of the barrier, settling last before charging home late.
The 4yo is on the fringe of being selected in the Cox Plate, with the field to be finalised by the Moonee Valley Racing Club committee on Tuesday.
Glen Bloss will replace Ballarat jockey John Allen if Mr Quickie gets a run..
Allen said Mr Quickie was rearing in the barriers and stepped a bit slowly.
"He just got knocked down in the home straight, (when) there was nowhere to go. If we'd got the right run through, he'd have gone close," he said.
Trainer Phillip Stokes reports Mr Quickie pulled up well after the cup.
