Life-long Eagles player Adam Toohey will serve as a playing joint-coach, giving Watt a voice and set of eyes on the ground.
The agreement will see Watt head into a third campaign at the Eagles' helm, which he joined as Gary Learmonth's successor in November of 2017.
For Toohey, it will be his first time in the top job.
Toohey was handed the reins by Watt during the 2019 Central Highlands Football League season and coached a match in preparation for his step-up to the role.
Senior player Mark Gunnell also coached during the year.
Watt is a highly respected Geelong football figure. He played two games for the Cats, but is probably best known for his roles off the field. Among a number of coaching positions, he guided the VFL side for five seasons, winning the flag with a team featuring Gary Ablett, Jimmy Bartel, Steve Johnson, Paul Chapman and James Kelly.
Toohey is a junior product of Gordon who has emerged as one of the club's most important senior figures.
He enjoyed another good season in 2019, booting 65 goals as the Eagles reached a preliminary final.
However, it was a disappointing end for Toohey and his teammates, which were beaten by eventual premiers Waubra by nine points at Buninyong.
Gordon is still looking to win its first CHFL flag since 1988.
