Two cars collided at the intersection of Dawson and Dana streets about 4pm.
Three people were taken to the Ballarat Base Hospital - two women in their 30s, and a young girl, an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson confirmed.
One woman was in a stable condition with lower body injuries, while the other woman had minor injuries.
The girl was taken to hospital for observation, but her injuries are not believed to be serious.
A woman, believed to be pregnant, was rescued from one of the cars after the passenger door reportedly became stuck, according to witnesses at the scene.
The crash occurred outside Dana Street Primary School while many children were being picked up or walking home.
Westbound traffic along Dana Street was briefly blocked, while traffic in both directions was blocked along Dawson Street for some time.
