The pair this week took out the Golden City Paddle Steamer Museum Society's Best 'O Lake photographic award for their works which were part of a Ballarat International Foto Biennale exhibition at the Lake Wendouree Museum.
The exhibition featured photographers from the Ballarat Camera Club, Lal Lal Photographic Group and individual photographers.
Eight volunteers kept the museum open for BIFB visitors to enjoy the exhibition over its 60 day run.
"Lake Wendouree is Ballarat's biggest icon. I live literally half a block away and photograph the Ballarat district every day, but the lake is ever changing," Mr Thomas said.
"I can come up here two or three times a week and always find something different, something I haven't seen before. To me it's all about light and the conditions."
Mr Sinclair, who also lives near the lake, says the water often changes before his eyes.
"The light changes so much and by the time you get your camera out of the car, it's changed," he said. "And it's fascinating how many life forms there are around the lake and what you can find on a walk."
