In the past week there have been three accidents in Dana Street in the blocks between Armstrong Street and Dawson Streets.
This street, always risky, is getting more so, with the steady rise in Ballarat's population and car traffic.
In one accident, a car left the car park behind Target, swung out through oncoming traffic and hit another car already going west.
The second occurred at the corner of Dana and Dawson Streets.
Impatient drivers simply will not wait until it is safe.
They nudge or shoot forward across the intersection, hoping there's no one there.
The last accident was especially sad.
We won't soon forget the little girl watching her mother being cut out of the wrecked car and I'm sure she won't forget it either.
Darryl Cloonan, Ballarat.
