Irish horse Downdraft will represent the region in the 'Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep', which will see one regional town come away with $50,000 to put towards a charity of its choice.
Downdraft, which was tied to Ballarat after drawing the 15th barrier in the race, is currently tipped among the top half of horses heading into the race that stops the nation.
Ballarat received the 15th barrier at random earlier this year.
