Prep to year four classes and French lessons are now held in the newly-constructed Neville Hawkins wing, while the year five and six classes have spread out in to bigger classrooms in an existing building which have been refurbished for added space.

"The kids have loved watching the building come on the back of the trucks," said head of primary Bianca Francica.

"They've been waiting for it for a long time since the first module arrived."

Mr Hawkins, one of the pioneering members of the school, was part of the ceremony for the opening of the building which bears his name, alongside several past principals and teachers, current staff and Ballarat councillor Samantha McIntosh.

Ballarat Christian College is experiencing growth, particularly among its younger students, and about 90 of the school's 148 primary pupils will be housed in the new wing.
