The Grasshoppers are hailing the former Redan high flyer as the prize pick-up among an influx of recruits.
They include past players Aaron Gercovich, Brendan Wall and Hamish Everett, as well as Josh Morgan from Sebastopol and Ballan's Dan Christie.
Gercovich has been teammate of Colbert at Redan, while Wall has been at Thomson in the Geelong District league and Everett with Sebastopol.
Rokewood-Corindhap joint coach Brad Macgowan said after primarily focusing on improving defensive aspects last season in order to be "hard to play against", they were aiming to increase scoring potency next year.
"With an increase in midfield depth and speed, as well as some crucial key position players, we'll be focusing on moving the ball in a more aggressive manner.
"It's exciting for the entire club," said Macgowan, who coaches in partnership with Shaune Moloney.
Macgowan said the Grasshoppers were pleased with the progress made last season in winning six games, but were now looking to take the next step and play finals next year.
Macgowan said Colbert's friendships with Gercovich and Leigh Ryall - another former Redan player at Rokewood-Corindhap - had been instrumental in getting him to the club. He said Colbert was a perfect fit as a linch-pin in attack.
Everett will provide options in key positions and as ruck support, while Gercovich, former club best and fairest Wall and the speedy Morgan would all add to the midfield depth.
Everett played his junior football with the Grasshoppers and then a full season at senior level in 2015. Troubled by injury, he played a sprinkling of senior games with the Burra, including three this year.
Wall is back after three years at Thomson, including a Geelong District league premiership in 2018.
Christie is a ruckman/key defender and preparing to relocate to Rokewood.
Macgowan said a couple of other players new to the area had landed at the club - midfielders James Moore and Brad Munrow from Gippsland - while it also hoped to secure more signings before the end of the year.
Pre-season training begins at Rokewood next Wednesday.
In the meantime, the club will have a family day featuring fun run and entertainment for children at Rokewood on Sunday from 11.30am, giving players and supporters an opportunity to meet recruits.
