WATCH: LEN VINCENT INTERVIEW WITH THE COURIER
That experience will come in handy this weekend when the club takes on last year's BDBD division one premier Ballarat Memorial Sports in the Ballarat District Bowls Division Saturday Pennant.
Central Wendouree will take an unchanged side up against a younger BMS outfit on what's likely to be a slow and wet carpet at home on Saturday.
Vincent said he fancied Central Wendouree's chances, particularly if the match is played on the club's brand new synthetic green installed a few weeks ago.
"Just about every game we have against BMS is good," he said.
"They have a good mixture of experienced bowlers and some very hot younger bowlers, and we'll have to be able to counter them."
Central Wendouree will chase its third win of the season against the defending premier.
Vincent said it was surprising how competitive the side had been in what was the club's first season playing premier competition in a number of years.
"It fell in place for us because we did lose four players last year, but the remaining 12, plus a couple of new recruits we gained this year have really helped us a long," he said.
Central Wendouree welcomed three new faces to the club, all of whom have been instrumental in the early part of the season Vincent said.
Newcomers Kerry Watts has provided depth to the squad as a lead, while former City Oval bowler Tony Gutteridge has impressed as a skipper.
"They've all fitted in very well so far," Vincent said.
"Tony skippered at City Oval on and off but since he has come here we've thrown him the baton and he's done well."
Elsewhere this weekend Ballarat will host Sebastopol in a top-end clash at home. Buninyong will take on Webbcona.
Learmonth will take on top-placed Victoria, while Creswick will look to keep up its good form against Mt Xavier.
