The Lions have signed Dunnstown mobile tall forward Harry McKimmie to line up in the Ballarat Football League next year.
Redan coach Jarrett Giampaolo said it had been widely recognised that the Lions need more firepower forward.
"Harry gives us this. He's won Dunnstown's goalkicking three years in a row so will slot into our side nicely," he said.
Giampaolo said McKimmie's inclusion would mean a more dynamic forward line, especially with the experience he would add alongside their young forwards.
Although only East Point scored more than Redan in the home and away season, the Lions struggled against other sides in the top side.
They averaged 55 points against fellow finalists compared with 88 overall - the reason Redan wants to see more scoring power, especially against the better quality opposition.
(He) will slot into our side nicely."

Grant Bell led Redan's goalkicking with 36 this year, while Lachlan McLean was the most productive tall forward with 28 in 12 games.
McKimmie spent three years at Dunnstown after moving from Wodonga in the Ovens and Murray league, where he represented the competition at under-19 level in 2016.
He kicked 30, 22 and 20 goals at Dunnstown while playing 46 games, and earned selection for the CHFL in the AFL Victoria Community Championships this year.
McKimmie is the first signing announced by Redan, which is retaining the bulk of its lift.
BFL side Sunbury is waiting on star player Grant Valles to decide on his future.
The versatile Valles has primarily been used in a defensive role for the Lions, but has also played as a midfielder and marking forward at Clarke Oval.
Valles went full-time with Sunbury in 2015 after playing with Bendigo Gold in the VFL.
MEANWHILE, former North Ballarat Rooster Ollie Tate has called an end to his VFL career.
The 27-year-old has signed on as an assistant coach with Southern Football League division one club Cheltenham after retiring from Williamstown.
Tate progressed through North Ballarat junior ranks and North Ballarat Rebels to debut with the Roosters in 2009.
He moved to Western Australia in 2015 to study physiotherapy at Curtin University in Perth and played with Claremont in the WAFL for two years.
Tate returned to North Ballarat in 2017 and joined Williamstown last year after the Roosters lost their VFL licence. He finishes with 105 VFL appearances.
