Ballarat's senior gridiron side lost its elimination final clash to the South Eastern Predators in the opening round of the Gridiron Victoria playoffs on Saturday.
The Predators defeated the Falcons 52-26 in a one-sided affair in Geelong.
Ballarat struggled to match the pace of the Predators, who finished fifth on the competition ladder.
The home side led the game throughout, but struggled to contain Ballarat running back Peter McKay, who made a number of rushing yards.
McKay showed his class on the defensive end as well, with a number of tackles and forced-turnovers.
The performance saw him named Ballarat's most valuable player after the match.
Ballarat wide-receiver James Cleaver showed his class on the day, with a number of made catches.
Linebacker Andrew Pickersgill and offensive-tackle Jack Watson also submitted admirable performances.
It was the second straight finals loss for the Falcons, who failed to advance past the first week of finals in 2018.
Ballarat finished its 2019 campaign with five regular season wins and eight losses.
The Falcons secured the final playoff spot two weeks ago with a comfortable win over the Pakenham Silverbacks.
The team will return to the field for the 2020 season.
