I am proud to know John Barnes and to be able to call him my friend. It is not a mutual admiration relationship but one based on the values of interdependence.
John is one of Ballarat's true leaders. He doesn't suffer fools, he is articulate, informed and passionate about our community.
He frightens the living daylights out of the incompetent as we all should.
HAVE YOUR SAY AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS LETTER
John has the very best interests of our community and the way it is governed at heart. As Mayor he was formidable, as a council officer was a fair and compassionate advocate.
His exposé, which was well reported in The Courier on 16 November, is testament to this. Congratulation to the reporter Jolyon Attwooll for his coverage of this serious issue!
It is time we all listened to this voice of Ballarat, take note and make sure our representatives take appropriate action.
For most people they just get on with their lives; John not only does that but also gives a damn about this great city.
It is just a pity we can't get John back into Council.
That would sort the parlous situation that we find ourselves in and would also present a way forward.
Vote 1 John Barnes - I can hear him now. Like hell - been there done that.
