But things aren't slowing down for the 23-year-old, who is seven games into her third WNBL season.
The Ballarat junior signed with the Bendgio Spirit as a developmental player earlier this year.
She joined the club following a strong season in the in the country's second-tier competition the NBL1, averaging 9.8 points per-game as a member of the Melbourne Tigers.
Burton said she hoped to use this season in Bendigo colours as a means to enhance her skills at both ends of the court.
"For myself I hope to improve the wider range of my overall ability" Burton said.
"Locking down defence and being able to provide more of an offensive game.
"I'm very defensive minded, I love defence, but I want to improve my offence too."
Burton started 20 games for the Tigers in 2019 - cementing a relationship with former Olympian and Bendigo basketball veteran Kristi Harrower.
She said following the footsteps of her coach was an easy decision.
"Kristi Harrower was my coach at the Tigers, she has a lot of experience which was handed to me, I loved playing under her." she said.
"She continues to help guide me with the direction I want to go in and I'm still frequently in contact with her.
"Kristi has been a big help for me which I really appreciate."
Burton has played only brief minutes for Bendigo this season, which stumbled out of the blocks to win only two games from seven starts.
The side enjoyed a week off last week, as many of the competition's top players competed with the Australian Opals in a pre-Olympic qualifier.
The Spirit used the break as an opportunity to enhance the side's on-court defence.
Burton will join fellow Ballarat-born teammate Abbey Wehrung in Ballarat next month when the Spirit play the Canberra Capitals on December 6.
