Incredibly up until Monday, Ballarat had only seen two days for the entire month above the November average as a series of cold fronts and that horrible misty rain hung around a lot longer than any of us would have hoped for.
For cricketers and lawn bowlers November has seen a series of cancellations and interruptions as the flow of the summer season has been reduced to what was flowing from the sky.
As of Sunday night, Ballarat had averaged just 16.4 degrees for the month, a clear coldest November record to that point. In fact, for the first 17 days of the month, there had been only two days which exceeded the monthly average and one of those came on November 1.
But two days of sunshine since have pushed that monthly average to 16.9 degrees, which means it is now equal with the coldest November which was recorded in 1960. But that won't last, with every day in the outlook expected to be above that average.
Also, after two dry months to start spring where just over a third of the average rainfall fell, November has already exceeded the monthly average. So far Ballarat has recorded 56.2mm, up on the normal monthly average of 55.5mm
But as Guns 'n' Roses said, 'nothing lasts forever, even cold November rain'.
Finally, the next seven days loom as the nicest weather we've seen in months with minimal cloud and no rain on the horizon.
Every day the forecast is expected to climb above 20 degrees, starting with a scorcher today of 32 degrees.
It will get to 27 again on Thursday and then by the weekend, Ballarat Cup Day on Saturday will see a top of 20 degrees and mostly sunny, but perhaps with a bit of westerly wind which will keep conditions cool for those in suits, but ladies, you might need to bring a light jacket.
The pick of the outlook though looks like Sunday for Spring Fest at Lake Wendouree which will see a top of 23 degrees and only very light winds, so light, we might even see some early morning fog, but the day will turn out perfect for all the festivities of one of Ballarat's biggest festivals.
