LETTER TO THE EDITOR The former Ballarat saleyards site should be developed, it its entirety, to serve the needs of affordable housing. There should be an adequate section purposely designed for temporary and emergency accommodation. And this development should take priority over stadiums, sport complexes, bike paths and any other entertainment type venue our council wants to spend money on. RELATED: Heritage overlay proposed for former saleyards There is no excuse to spend rate payer's dollars on any other project when funds are obviously available and this land is available. The hop-scotch and incoherent plans for serving this much needed sector of our community is unacceptable. The people of Ballarat need to join together to take care of the people of Ballarat. Conversion of the old saleyards would be an excellent beginning. Stephen Downey, Golden Point.
