The Renegades will take on cross-town rivals Melbourne Stars at Eastern Oval on Saturday. It will be the second game played in Ballarat in as many years for the club which is hoping to grow its fanbase out west.
The Renegades find themselves outside of finals contention heading into Saturday's contest, with the club sitting fifith on the WBBL table.
A win over the Stars would bring them equal in the win collumn with the fourth-placed Perth Scorchers, and firmly in the hunt of a finals berth with three rounds remaining.
Renegades captain Jess Duffin is well aware of what is at stake for the club should it lose in Ballarat. She said the team would not take the last-placed Stars lightly.
"We are finals bound and if we drop anymore games we have to rely on other teams losing," she said.
"So we're doing everything we can to focus on winning."
Duffin said it would be no easy task against the Stars, who would be desperate to close out the year on a high.
She said her side's bowling attack would have to contain Stars' openers Elyse Villani and Lizelle Lee who are capable of putting runs on the board quickly.
"If we can get them out early, that will be handy," she said.
The match in Ballarat will hold a special significance for Mortlake native Georgia Wareham, who will be within an hour and a half of her hometown.
She said it was great to be back in Ballarat.
"We got rained out last year, but there was a lot of support, she said.
"Anywhere you go in regional areas, they seem to appreciate you a little bit more.
The Renegades will enter the match without all-rounder Sophie Molineux, who has requested to take time away from cricket to focus on her mental health and wellbeing.
