Ryan Bartlett takes up the position for the 2020 Ballarat Football League season.
He is the third Mansfield player making the move to the Cobras, with Jackson Kirley having also followed German from the Goulburn Valley league club.
Bartlett arrives after four years at Mansfield.
German said Bartlett was a perfect fit for the role. "He's a great leader." He said he was strong key defender, with his intercept marking one of his strengths.
Bartlett's experience beyond the GVFL includes time in the SANFL at under-age level and VAFA.
German's drawing power as a coach has already proven to be a major asset for Bacchus Marsh.
As well using his ties to get Bartlett and Kirley, the Cobras last month also secured Bryce Carroll, who was a teammate of German as an Essendon AFL rookie.
Bacchus Marsh's others pick-ups include the return of 2016 premiership player Rhys McNay and Jordan Ladzik, who has played a sprinkling of senior games with Lancefield in the Riddell District league.
German again emphasised the importance of player retention despite the latest loss of Tom Brownridge (Caroline Springs), who struggled with knee issues in his one season at Maddingley Park.
SEVEN players from this year's Greater Western Victoria Rebels are chasing a spot on Geelong's VFL list for next season.
James Cleaver, Liam Herbert, Mitchell Burgess, Cooper Craig-Peters, Matty Lloyd, Josh Dwyer and Jed Hill are in the Cats' summer training squad.
Geelong has 37 players vying for a final list of 24 and a six-man development list.
