I love Ballarat, I love the people there... I just love everything about Ballarat.Rowsley trainer Anthony Azzopardi
Newly-crowned Melbourne Cup champion Whiskey Riot and four of his kennel mates will form Anthony Azzopardi's assault on the Ballarat Cup.
Whiskey Riot, which won the $630,000 feature at Sandown Park on Friday night, will be joined in the Ballarat heats by his brothers Fernando's Riot and Caishen as well as Myrniong And All and Seal The Deal.
The Rowsley trainer said he'd love to win his hometown cup for a second time after taking it with Zambora Brockie in 2016.
"I love Ballarat, I love the people there... I just love everything about Ballarat," he said.
Azzopardi said Whiskey Riot was the best of his chances in Ballarat, followed by Seal The Deal.
"Seal The Deal goes good on one turn tracks so he's got a good chance," he told The Courier.
Whiskey Riot's success in the Melbourne Cup took his record to 17 wins from 35 starts and more than $600,000 in prizemoney. It also saw the dog surpass Zambora Brockie as Azzopardi's highest earner.
Heats for the $47,000 Ballarat Cup will be held this Saturday before the final the following Saturday, December 14.
