It's a sign that has left many people scratching their heads. With a new government school and a new Catholic school nearby, is there really a new primary school coming soon in the Ballymanus estate in Alfredton?

The answer is no ... not soon anyway.
An education and community hub is in the masterplan for the estate and the land has been set aside, but it's up to the education department to decide if and when a school is built there and with the nearby Lucas Primary School set to open next year it's likely to be a long time coming.
The Victorian Department of Education and Ballarat Catholic Education office have each confirmed to The Courier they have no plans to build a school in the estate.
Integra land development manager Nick Grylewicz conceded the sign was poorly worded and apologised if it had misled.
"The sign has been up for a while, but it's probably not the right wording. We'd probably be better to have 'future school site subject to education department approval' or something similar," he said.
Mr Grylewicz said the education department mandated that land was put aside for a future school if needed, and council had insisted on land for a community centre.
The land is zoned for education and it would be possible to sell to a private school if one were interested.
"We hear that schools are pressed, but with Lucas Primary School and Siena Catholic Primary school this site won't be needed for a few years yet ... though we do need to keep pressure on because there is a need for another high school," he said.
