A prosecutor says "the door is open" in respect to negotiations with six men charged over the 2012 cold case murder of Adelaide spraypainter Jason De Ieso.

But as the date for the accused to enter pleas was set for March, Jim Pearce QC told Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday that he did not expect the matter to resolve.
Mr Pearce said the bulk of the prosecution brief against the defendants would be provided to their counsel before Christmas.
In August, five men with links to the Hells Angels bikie gang were arrested in Adelaide and charged with Mr De Ieso's killing.
They are Daniel Mark Jalleh, Ross William Montgomery and brothers Husain Ali Alzuain, Mohamed Alzuain and Musa Ali Alzuain.
At the same time another man, Jake Byron Martin-Herde, was charged with assisting an offender.
Then in October, a sixth man was charged with murder with Kyle Lloyd Pryde arrested in Queensland and returned to SA
Mr De Ieso's killing is alleged to have been sparked by a protracted feud between the Hells Angels and the Finks bikie gangs.
But police said the 33-year-old had no links to either gang and was an "innocent bystander".
In 2013, they released CCTV video of nine men, including six armed with guns, marching into his workshop before shots are fired. The men then ran from the scene.
Those accused of murder are all being held in custody.
They will return to court to answer the charges on March 20.
