More than 400 pupils took part in the school's Mini Mudder event - a muddy obstacle course.

Black Hill Primary School sports co-ordinator Chloe Dew said the event was a fundraiser that intended to be a fun day for the pupils near the end of the school year.

"It was fantastic. The kids were absolutely caked in mud and having a great time," she said.

Pupils from Prep to Grade 6 took on the muddy challenge that featured eight obstacles, including a mud crawl, a slip and slide, tyre scramble and army crawl.

Ms Dew said it was a big undertaking to put on the event, with five cubic metres of dirt, a heap of sand and many hours of work to make sure it looked great and was safe.

Mini Mudder was also intended to promote health and well-being and to encourage pupils to get active outside.

Funds raised will be put back into the school's physical education program, to promote more physical activity at school.

It is the second year Black Hill Primary School has run the event.
