WNBL coaches Paul Goriss and Tracy York joined Ballarat Basketball director of coaching Brendan Joyce to host a clinic prior to a WNBL clash between the Bendigo Spirit and Canberra Capitals on Friday.
Goriss, who is the head coach of the Canberra Capitals and assistant coach of the Australian Opals, said the Ballarat area was a hotbed for producing talented payers.
"It's great to come down and see what emerging talent there is from a WNBL perspective in the country," he said.
"Ballarat has been known for producing good talent, both male and females, so this allows me to work with some of the players to see what junior talent is coming through."
Joyce said exposure to this level of coaching is great for the development of players. He said it was to see coaches giving back to the game at a grass-roots level.
"They don't have to do this but we asked them if they could," he said.
"We've got some of the best players here in Vic Country, so it's a great opportunity for these girls to be involved in a clinic with some top WNBL coaches."
York said the Bendigo Spirit was a WNBL team that served the greater region, including Ballarat.
