Five new players were named into the McDonald's Ballarat Youth League Miners Squad, which was announced on Friday.

They will join a handful veterans, who led the team to championship glory in the Big V youth league one men's division in 2019.

Head coach Daniel Knaggs, who will share coaching duties with Ryan McKew next season, said he was happy with the group selected.

"We've got a lot of good young local guys coming into the mix," he said.

"Their future potential is enormous and hopefully we can mold them into future NBL1 players."

Broden Collins and towering forward Stephanos Economou are two newcomers expected to make an impact for the Miners next season.

They will help fill a hole in the front-court left by championship centre Amos Brooks, who departed to take up a college scholarship in America.

Knaggs said the coaching staff was forced into some tough omissions when settling on the list - one of which was 2019 forward Bol Bak.

"We wanted to work through the chemistry and dynamic and make sure that we picked the best competitors, and realistically there were a lot of great athletes that missed out unfortunately," he said.

Les Hotchin most valuable player winner Jeremiah McKenzie headlined the cast of returning players, who will help propel team in the top youth competition in the state.

2019 identities Zach Dunmore, Ross Weightman and Blake Allison will take a step back from the side to focus on NBL1 duties.

Knaggs said the trio would play in the Big V on a part-time basis when the schedule allowed.
