Following the scraping of the AFL Victoria Community Championships, the two leagues have been in talks about a 2020 fixture.
A Saturday, May 2 date has been tentatively included in the Ballarat Football Netball League's draft fixture and plans are to hold the battle at Mars Stadium.
Ballarat Football Netball League operations manager Shane Anwyl said talks had been positive between the two goldfields competitions.
"When the Worksafe championships fell over we had a look around and Bendigo was the obvious choice given the history we've got competing against them and they thought the same," Anwyl said.
Bendigo and Ballarat have met four times in senior football interleague games since 2009, with the ledger 3-1 in favour of the latter.
The two last clashed in 2017 when Ballarat won the match by 11 points at Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo.
At Monday night's Ballarat Football Netball League annual general meeting, the draft fixture for 2020 was presented to clubs for consideration.
Following feedback, the BFNL will release the final fixture on Friday, December 20.
The draft features an 18-round season with all clubs to play 16 matches and have two byes. The start date is set down for April 18, 2020.
A full home and away round of senior football will be played under lights on Anzac Day next year, while Anwyl confirmed the grand final replay between East Point and Sebastopol had been booked for round one.
