Rock On, the new incarnation of the Ballarat Beat festival, will see venues all across the city come alive to the sounds of the 1950s for three nights and two days from February 7-9.
The festival will see the closure to traffic of Armstrong Street North, providing a boon for restaurateurs with more than 10,000 people expected over the course of the weekend and comes just months after the closure of the previous festival amid a funding shortfall.
Party people will also converge on the Mining Exchange as well as Civic Hall in Mair Street for a host of events.
Founding member Tracey Spencer said the festival would include bands, dancing, street parties, a pin-up competition and models.
"There's something for everyone who loves rock 'n' roll," she said.
"We've got three people who have come together and we've been working together for the past four months on this festival, we'll be in full party mode."
The City of Ballarat has also come to the party, providing a $25,000 grants to kick things off next year, followed by promised grants of $20,000 and $15,000 over the coming years, making for a $60,000 commitment.
Ballarat's Australia's Got Talent winner Kristy Sellars has agreed to be the ambassador for the event.
"I'm honoured to be asked, I love everything about what this festival stands for and I'm all about positive body image, so to be part of it and be able to judge one of the competition, I'm thrilled to be involved," she said.
"We'll get to see lots of different varieties of pin ups and burlesque festivals.
"I took my daughter to the festival a few years back and she fell in love with the dresses, so we've always been very excited about it, but when Tracey asked me to be an ambassador, I was just really honoured."
