Melbourne United guard Mitch McCarron headlines a crop of new recruits who have put pen to paper to play in the league next season.
He will join Melbourne United teammate Tohi Smith-Milner and dynamic import Demarcus Gatlin at the Geelong Supercats - setting the stage for a tantalising regional rivalry with Ballarat.
Ballarat Miners head coach Brendan Joyce welcomed any new talent, saying it would add depth to the competition.
"I think anybody that's coming from any league, whether that's the NBL or Europe is only going to strengthen the league," he said.
"It's obviously going to be more challenging for all the teams that are in it, but you want the competition to be as strong as it can be."
Ballarat revealed its first signing of the off-season on Thursday by announcing combo-guard Kuany Kuany would return after a stint with the Sydney Kings.
Joyce said the club would look to recruit everybody from last year's core back.
"We're anticipating that the majority of the team will come back, so our goal will be to get to the playoffs and go from there," he said.
The Supercats also added former Cairns Taipans shooting guard Dexter Kernich-Drew, while the Bendigo Braves brought back tower-of-power Ray Turner.
Point guard Tom Wright is the only announced signing by the championship-winning Nunawading Spectres.
The Ballarat Miners emerged as the team to beat in 2019, finishing with a regular season record of 16 wins and four losses.
But the team's campaign came to end after falling to the Spectres one game shy of the decider.
Joyce said the competition's first-year success opened the door for it to become bigger and better.
"I think the way they marketed and promoted the league was up there with the level of the NBL," he said.
"Players were recognised when they played good games, and that opens doors.
"I think that has made the competition more attractive."
