A 40-year-old man accused of trafficking and possessing a variety of illegal drugs has been released on bail after 24 days in police custody. Paul Milenkovic was arrested on November 19 after police raided a Lonsdale Street unit in Redan. Police allegedly located a range of drugs, including 111 grams of ecstasy tablets which is 37 times the traffickable quantity, and two litres of butanediol which is 40 times the traffickable quantity. Police nominal informant Senior Constable Andrew Young told the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Friday police found cannabis seedlings, methylamphetamine, cash, a notebook containing names, a taser and capsicum spray. The drugs had an alleged street value of $5000. OTHER HAPPENINGS IN COURT He said a large amount of tools, guitars and a stereo system worth $20,000 - all suspected to be the proceeds of crime - was located. Senior Constable Young said Milenkovic, who was at the house at the time of the search, had $5000 cash - in $1000 bundles - in his pocket. He said it was still unclear whether the house belonged to Milenkovic. "Police believe the accused is a significant risk of re-offending if placed on bail," Senior Constable Young said in opposing bail. Defence barrister Simon Tan submitted his client showed compelling reasons why he should be bailed because he had support from the Court Integrated Services Program, had stable accommodation and had never been jailed. Magistrate Letizia Torres said Milenkovic had shown compelling reasons. She said evidence suggested there were some issues with the items found at the house and the access other people had to the house. Milenkovic was bailed with strict conditions.
