Emergency warnings remain in place near Lexton and Meredith this evening as two out of control fires threaten communities.

Alanna Harrison, who lives near Lexton, said it had been a frightening time.
"We heard it was coming up over Lexton and just wanted to keep an eye on it," Ms Harrison said
"My husband is a fire fighter so we're always well prepared."
"We've opened up the recreation reserve in Waubra for anyone that needs it."
"I'm just hoping it doesn't get into Lexton."
Another woman, Jessica Lawrence, was driving away from her newly build property alongside her horse.
"It was pretty crazy, we could see it all from our place," she said.
"The fire just got to a point where I decided it was time too leave... we haven't been here for long and we're just hoping it doesn't come any closer."

However, the message says firefighters have been able to slow the spread of fire for now, but the situation can change at any time.
You must monitor conditions and be ready to act.
The other fire near Mount Mercer also remains with an emergency warning, however an advice warning for smoke has been issued for Lethbridge and Meredith with a wind change imminent.
