Keeley's Cause was started by Ballan teenager Keeley Murphy two and a half years ago with a dream to provide iPads for children with autism or an intellectual disability.

Keeley, now 15, was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at a young age and was recently diagnosed with an intellectual disability. She found and iPad helped improve her learning experience.

Through fundraising, Keeley's Cause has donated 99 iPads to children this year. The goal for the next year is to donate 20 to 50 iPads every month.

Masterchef contestant Tim Bone will work to help the charity achieve its goals as its newest ambassador.

He will boost fundraising efforts with a charity dinner and donations through a dedicated Keeley's Cause Tim's Toasties market stall next year.

"Masterchef has been a great springboard for my own career, but I think it is also a good chance to give back to community," Mr Bone said.

Before Masterchef, Mr Bone worked as an integration aid at Yuille Park Community College. He said he has seen the difference technology can make for children with special needs and learning difficulties.

"There are so many educational apps to help them with their learning. Technology is a great way for kids to get involved with their learning, catch up and be engaged."

Keeley's mum Sharon Murphy said feedback from recipient's families showed iPads were also helping improve the childrens' ability to communicate and reduced their anxiety.

Keeley has been widely recognised for her efforts to help other children with a disability as winner of the City of Ballarat Youth Awards, the Ballan Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Young Achiever Award.

She was also nominated as a finalist for the Human Rights Commission Young People Human Rights Medal.

Keeley said she was feeling excited, but also nervous and overwhelmed about the growth of the charity.

Data shows one in 59 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.

Keeley's Cause will go 'fluro for neuro' to recognise autism awareness month in April and the I Am, I Can, I Will campaign in February. It is running a charity golf day on April 24 where business can sponsor a hole.
