VIDEO ONE
Ararat Fire Brigade: On Friday we responded to a bush fire near Lexton, as part of strike team 1621 which was made up of 4 Tankers and the Ararat FCV.
In this footage, taken from Ararat FCV which was used as a Strike Team Leaders' vehicle, our strike team and others were tasked with asset protection at the Rainbow Serpent Festival site.
While this footage looks chaotic, with vehicles circling everywhere, this is process is fairly coordinated. The Strike Team Leaders vehicle circles around to check the assets on the property and to prioritise and delegate tasks to the tankers as required.
In the end, we were told to evacuate this property as fire conditions worsened, and we were re-tasked along the Beaufort-Lexton Rd.

VIDEO TWO
Ararat Fire Brigade: After leaving the Rainbow Serpent Festival site, the Ararat FCV patrolled along the Beaufort-Lexton Rd. to asses the fire that was now travelling down the side of Granite Hill (highlighted on the left in the beginning of the video).
While heading towards Lexton, we decided to access the paddock on the south side of the road, in anticipation that the fire would cross the Beaufort-Lexton Rd.
The footage that follows is the fight the occurred to try and stop the front (head) of the fire once it crossed the road and the battle lasted for the best part of an hour, and believe us, it was no "Waltz"
It was a fantastic job by everybody involved to stop the run of this fire, where and when they did.
It was difficult to edit an hours' worth of video into approx. 6 minutes, so the footage has been sped up and edited in places.
