The 30-year-old put it all together to land his first win in a final in more than season.
Camille (7.75m) covered the 100m in 11.118 seconds for a clear-cut margin over open 70m final winner Aidan Green (5.75m), while Ballarat's Hugh Hoffmann (5.75m) wore the backmarker's red bib into third place.
For Hoffmann, his eye-catching performance followed a semi-final appearance in the Bay Sheffield Gift in Adelaide post-Christmas.
All honours were with the accomplished Camille, who was as much relieved as he was excited after failing to convert any of 12 appearances in finals in a variety of distances last season into a victory.
"It feels so good," he said.
Camille, who has been a Stawell Gift finalist, had set himself for the "Run for the Willow" some time ago and it was pleasing to have delivered after missing out last season.
This was only his second meet of the Victorian Athletic League season, having been run out in the 70m heats at Waverley in mid-December.
Camille from Moorabbin said he had no plans as to what else he would tackle for the rest of the season.
"I have not idea. I couldn't say."
He said his focus had been on the Daylesford Gift and he had no particular thoughts as what he might run in next.
While it had been a while since he had tasted success, he has enjoyed being in victory lane in Victoria at the likes of Avondale Heights, Parkdale and Sandringham, South Australia and Western Australia.
He won the then Australian's richest 70m - the Don Furness Sprint - at Avondale Heights in 2014.
