There's more than 50 events across the time trials, road races, and inner-city criteriums, but disruptions should be minimal.
On Wednesday, January 8 and Thursday, January 9, some roads between Mount Helen and Navigators will be closed.
These include University Drive through Federation University, Yankee Flat Road between Yendon Number One Road and Navigators Road, and Gear Avenue between Geelong Road and Gear Avenue.
Geelong Road, between Boak Avenue and Moss Avenue, will also be closed, as will several smaller roads and lanes along Yankee Flat Road.
Roads will be reopened by 8.30pm on Wednesday, and will close again from 8am to 4pm on Thursday.
Chancellor Drive and Blainey Drive at University Drive will be closed from Tuesday at 6am to Thursday at 4pm, while University drive between Gear Avenue and Residence Drive and North Terrace between University Drive and East Terrace will be closed from 6am each day.
On Friday, the action moves to Sturt Street, which will be closed between Greenville Street and Raglan Street from 6am to 10pm.
Cross streets will also be closed for this time between Mair Street or Bath Lane and Dana Street, though the Midland Highway through Doveton Street will remain open until 10.30am.
Traffic, including public transport, will be diverted along Mair or Dana streets, or Raglan or Grenville streets during this time.
Parking will also be restricted in the area.
During the road races on Saturday and Sunday, much of the Midland Highway will be closed in Buninyong, from Winter Street to Mount Buninyong Road.
Following the course, Warrenheip Street between Barkly Street and the highway, Mount Buninyong Road between the highway and Granny White Lane, Yendon Number One Road, Yankee Flat Road, Gear Avenue, Fisken Road to Geelong Road, and several avenues in Federation University will also be closed.
Geelong Road will also be closed between Eddy Avenue and Barkly Street.
Pedestrians will still be able to access shops in central Buninyong through controlled crossings, while public transport will be diverted.
Witches hats may be placed at the end of driveways to remind residents the roads are closed, however a hotline will be available to provide motorcycle escorts through the course - check the RoadNats website for more details.
