For the second year in a row Durbridge upset reigning world champion Rohan Dennis to take the gold medal at the FedUni Cycling Australia Road National Championships.
With two time trial spots available for Australian riders at the Tokyo Olympic Games this year, Durbridge has no doubt he has done enough to line up alongside Dennis in the event.
He said what better marker could there be than beating the world champion.
"I'd really like to see Australia respect those two spots. I believe Rohan and I deserve them. I hope the selectors see it that way," Durbridge said.
Durbridge said winning a national championship was more special each time.
