Mt Clear pounced on an undermanned Wendouree to claim victory in the last of the Twenty20 rounds for season 2019-20.
The Mounties knocked over the Red Caps - missing key players such as Sam Miller, Cole Roscholler and Anthony Beacham - for just 98 and then chased down the target with seven wickets in hand.
Saturday's success leaves Mt Clear in second spot on the Ballarat Cricket Association first grade table and books the side a place in the league's T20 finals series.
"We definitely got them undermanned, (but) you can only beat the team you play," Mt Clear captain Darcy Thomson said.
"It's unlucky for them and lucky for us - it's what happens."
On A-grade debut for Mt Clear, John Butler took two wickets against his old side, while Steve Nicholson made an unbeaten 52 to lead the successful run chase.
The defeat has seen Wendouree miss the T20 finals and slide to fourth on the first grade standings.
Darley and Mt Clear were unbeaten in the Twenty20 rounds and will play finals in the coming weeks alongside fellow qualifiers Golden Point and East Ballarat.
The Lions kept their unbeaten season in tact against Brown Hill at the Western Oval.
They made 2-122 and then bowled out the Bulls for just 80. Danza Hyatt made 62 not out and then took four wickets for the winners.
Over in Alfredton, the reigning premiers had very little trouble beating Ballarat-Redan.
The Two Swords made just 87 batting first before Lewis Hodgins (54 not out) and Gavan Hicks (30 not out) helped East Ballarat cruise to a 10-wicket triumph inside 12 overs.
David Ellis smashed an unbeaten 43 from just 21 balls to help Buninyong snatch a four wicket win under lights against North Ballarat, which had earlier made 4-133.
Ellis reached the crease with the Bunnies 5-60 after earlier being 2-2.
New Roosters skipper Mick Nolan tried his best at the top of the order for his side with a classy 79 not out.
In the other game on Saturday, Golden Point defeated Napoleons-Sebastopol.
