Shaun Schoefbaenker is facing 27 charges relating to offences between December 22 and January 12.

The charges include six charges of car theft, four charges of destroying them by setting them alight, two charges of registration plate theft, three charges of driving unlicenced, four charges of stealing fuel, two charges of speeding and one charge of evading police.

It is alleged Schoefbaenker stole a 1999 Nissan Pulsar and registration plates from Magpie on December 22, drove unlicenced and set fire to the car on the same day, while on bail.

Schoefbaenker is also accused of stealing a 2011 Ford Territory and a set of registration plates from Wendouree between December 18 and 24 and driving the car without a licence while on bail.

It is alleged he stole a 2007 Jeep Cherokee between December 23 and January 2 and set it alight on January 4 in Wendouree.

Schoefbaenker is charged with stealing fuel from petrol stations on January 2, January 3 and two times on January 10.

It is alleged he trespassed at a Creswick property on January 4 with intent to steal.

Schoefbaenker is charged with stealing a 2018 Mitsubishi Pajero valued at $45,000 in Ballarat North on January 7 and setting it alight in Miners Rest on January 8.

It is alleged he stole a 2000 Ford Falcon in Wendouree on January 10 and a 2009 Ford Territory on January 12.

He is charged with speeding on the wrong side of the Western Freeway in Leigh Creek on January 12 without a licence to evade police.

Schoefbaenker was remanded in custody at the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Monday. He will return to court on February 24.
