An email to clubs was circulated on Thursday stating the BCA pennant committee was monitoring conditions and would utilise the Cricket Australia Air Quality Guidelines when making any decisions on the weekend's games.
First, second, third, fourth and fifth grades are all scheduled to have one-day matches this Saturday and the Bureau of Meteorology is tipping the haze will be prominent in Ballarat.
"Considerations will be taken dependent on the air quality readings and the potential for reduced match time are high," BCA operations officer Greg Wakeling wrote.
"Given all grades are playing one-day matches this weekend, a reduced match would likely see T20s across the board if required."
Meanwhile, Ballarat and District Trotting Club chief executive Paul Rowse remains confident the biggest night on the city's harness racing calendar will go ahead despite the forecast.
The Bray Raceway meeting is scheduled to begin at 6.43pm, with the feature of the night, the group 1 Ballarat Pacing Cup, to be run at 9.40pm.
Rowse said the club had been in contact with Harness Racing Victoria about the issue and said conditions would be monitored in the lead-up to the races.
"It would be highly unlikely that the cup would be in doubt on Saturday night," Rowse said.
Ballarat District Bowls Division secretary John Holt was contacted on Thursday morning and said the board hadn't spoken about Saturday's forecast smoke at that stage.
The 2020 Ballarat Regatta is also scheduled on Lake Wendouree this Saturday.
