The Courier was given an exclusive first look and tour behind the scenes this week as teachers busily prepared their classrooms for the first day of a new era.
The school will eventually hold 475 pupils, but right now, the 65 initial pupils are set to have the run of the magnificent grounds which include multi-purpose outdoor sports courts, large oval and a gigantic indoor gymnasium.
For principal Sue Sawyers the first day will be the successful culmination of more than 12 months hard work which has seen the school rise from ground. "We've had the teachers in during the week and they have all been in helping to set up their learning space," Ms Sawyers said.
"We're very excited and we feel very privileged to be part of something new as well."
Technology is everywhere you look, from 4K smart TVs in every classroom, to projector rooms and open planned learning areas complete with their own reading space.
Specialist technician Phil Kalluri said as well as the interactive TVs there was also video conferencing systems and projection rooms for presentations.
"In the current settings with technologies evolving, this school will have the capability to grow. It will be awesome for the children when they come in."
Ms Sawyers said she was excited about what the new school could do for the Lucas community, which she said would be a school for them.
