The monitor will be used to obtain an accurate measurement of particulate matter at race venues.
Smoke haze is predicted for Ballarat on Saturday, when HRV will use the equipment in addition to the advice of an independent external consultant to ensure conditions do not pose a health risk.
HRV integrity general manager Brent Fisher said the health and safety of industry participants and staff was paramount.
"In addition to the air quality checks on the EPA website, we wanted to ensure accurate readings were available at all our venues in the interest of welfare. "We want to be proactive and ensure our people and horses are not being put at undue risk."
Industry participants will be advised as early as possible by text message, social media and website notification of any significant meeting changes.
