Dance Craze emulated her now retired stable My Tribeca by carrying the Yabby Dam Racing colours to victory a dramatic edition of the time-honoured event at Ballarat's Bray Raceway on Saturday night.

The six-year-old took her earnings past $400,000 with her 20^th career success and confirmed she is on target for a title defence in the group 1 Great Southern Star at Melton on Saturday, February 1.

Dance Craze ($6.40) worked her way into the deathseat mid-race, but the race changed complexion when leader Kheiron galloped - allowing Glen Craven to cross to the pegs and take the lead on Dance Craze with about 700m to run.

Tornado Valley ($1.50 favourite) quickly loomed up on her outside after enjoying the trail, but was unable to catch her in a gripping tussle down the home straight.

The trio will have the face the might of New Zealand super challenge in the Great Southern Star in the form of Inter Dominion champion Winterfell and rising star Oscar Bonavena, which trainer Mark Purdon has huge raps on.

Dance Craze is now on the verge of surpassing the deeds of her champion mother La Coocaracha, which won 23 races and earned $428,000 in a career which made her an all-time great.

Dance Craze has won two group 1, two group 2 and now five group 3 features, with Great Southern Star by far the biggest.
