The proposed new site is at 611 Learmonth Street, just to the east of the Buninyong Golf Club Clubhouse.
If approved, it would replace the existing station on the same road at 307 Learmonth Street.
Planning documents say the current site no longer meets the needs of the CFA, and the new building is "aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of the Buninyong Volunteer Fire Brigade."
There have been plans to upgrade the facilities for the brigade for several years. A previous site on the corner of Palmerston and Warrenheip streets was earmarked for development but plans fell through in 2018.
The new proposed site consists of three vacant allotments that have been grouped together.
The new facility would be run by volunteers, who would be there during call-outs, for training and meetings or for equipment maintenance.
The planning reports states the brigade as having 45 active volunteer members, around 25 of which would generally be on site for training and meetings on Tuesday evenings.

The report cites the number of annual call-outs at around 180 per year.
In December 2018, the force had to deal with a major 40-hectare bushfire on its doorstep.
In the new building, there would be space for parking up to three emergency vehicles and their equipment in an area including a three-bay motor room, workshop and storage rooms.
The western side of the building would include an office, turn-out rooms, multi purpose room, kitchen and toilets.
A 19.5-metre hose drying tower is planned for to the rear of the main building, with a proposed 1.8 metre high fence to the south and west.
There would be a total of 32 off-street car parking spaces to the rear of the building, with 17 spaces sealed and 15 unsealed spaces for times of high use.
There would also be two new crossovers onto Learmonth Street - a six-metre-wide one to the west with access to the car parking area and a 15-metre wide one in front of the motor room.
Another new six-metre-wide crossover would give vehicles direct access from Learmonth Street to the Midland Highway.
The total site area is stated at as 3,600 square meters.
