A relative who's who of the Ballarat's most community minded citizens have been nominated for the City of Ballarat's Australia Day Awards.

The awards, which include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year, will be announced at council buildings on Friday between 2pm and 4pm.
The nominees for each award are as follows:
Citizen of the Year
Gary William Browning (posthumous nomination) - For work within the Ballarat tourism industry and community assistance.
Dennis Collins - For work establishing the PVC Seperation recycling solution.
Nick Locandro - For raising awareness about early onset dementia and founding not-for-profit organisation This is Dementia.
Merle Hathaway - For volunteer work with the homeless, refugees and those living with mental illness.
Paul Beechey - For work within the Burrumbeet community and region, including 47 years with the CFA and 39 years with the Learmonth Bowling Club
Desley Beechey - For community work, including work with Timor Leste.
Marcia King - For founding Ballarat Roller Skate Fit Club and promoting an inclusive health program.
Young Citizen of the Year
Samuel McColl - For his work within the Young Rural Leaders Program, CFA and St John's Ambulance.
Shelby Sherritt - For her work promoting art therapy in the recovery from serious illness.
April O'Neill - For her work with disconnected young people within the community.
Josha-Lyn Gibson - For promoting the Clemente program.
Aleasha Kelly - For her work with vulnerable young people within the community.
Rory Taylor - For her commitment to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) projects
Tobias Soul - For his work within CAFS.
Keeley Johnson - For her work to support educational opportunities for children with autism or intellectual disability through Keeley's Cause.
Ethan Sculley - For his work donating much needed goods to the homeless.
Gabriel Gervasoni - For her commitment to the Pathways in Technology program and running workshops for Vision Australia.
Evie Crawford - For her work within the Empower to Play program, captaining her school's energy breakthrough challenge and through the Western Bulldogs Leadership Project.
