A bewildering range of services will be up for grabs at the Odessa at Leaver's Hotel in its "slave for the day" auction on Saturday, ranging from electrical work to performances from a former Kylie Minogue backing singer.
Handyman time, a massage and even a $750 voucher of lawyer's fees are among the lots. Carpentry skills, manure packing, piano tuning, meal cooking and counselling feature too.
It is all part of an extraordinary rolling auction to raise money for two families, including Hepburn Shire artist Jackie Gorring whose son lost his home in Eden.
They lost everything apart from a tractor
Venue owner Chantel Leaver said the reaction to the idea, which was put forward by a singer with local band The Vests, had been "amazing".
Ms Gorring was with her son Jesse, also an artist, when he and his wife returned to the family home in Eden to see it razed to the ground. The house had been standing for more than 100 years.
"They lost everything apart from a tractor and a sculpture," she said.
Ms Gorring described the reaction from the Creswick community as "overwhelming" but said her son had not been able to fully take it in due to everything he had to deal with.
She said her son, a sculptor, hoped to buy a shipping container to start the process of setting up again.
